Glucosamine is an aminosugar naturally found in the human body in bones, cartilage
and tissue. Glucosamin is found in our daily food, although in minor quantities.
Recent reseach has indicated that most people will benefit from the use Glucosamine
as a food supplement to help retain and rebuild the body ressources of Glucosamine.
Several scientific studies have indicated that Glucosamine plays a role in
the functioning of joints, most notably the so-called Lancet study. It seems
to be documented that Glucosamine can stop the erosion of cartilage that usually
follows ageing, and perhaps also to a certain extent re-build lost cartilage.
No major side-effects have been shown in these studies. However, in a few instances
mild stomach upset has been reported. As our Glucosamine is derived from a shellfish
source, people suffering from shellfish allergy should be cautious when taking
Glucosamine.
Glucosamine is normally sold in two variants: Sulphate and HydroChloride (HCL).
Glucosamine Sulphate is the most widely used and sold variant, but upon request we now also
sell Glucosamine HCL. The latter is 23.5% stronger than Sulphate, so the recommended daily dosage is similarly reduced.
The source of Glucosamine:
Glucosamine sources are normally shellfish (Crab, lobster and shrimp shells)
or bovine. Our Glucosamine is derived 100% from Shellfish.
Quality:
Our Glucosamin is derived from Shellfish and is classified as Pharmaceutical
Grade. This guarantees a product in the highest concentration available, and
furthermore complieance with the low limit values for heavy metals. Our current
raw material batch used for our Glucosamin tablets is certified as 98% pure
Glucosamine Sulphate.
